Report on the 2008 Software Satisfaction Awards held on 30th October
BASDA members celebrated success in all Accounting and Payroll categories at the 2008 Software Satisfaction Awards, including category winners Access Accounting (Mid-range Software), PS Financials (Enterprise Software) and TaxCalc (Tax Software).

Congratulations to BASDA members
The 14th annual Accountancy Age Awards took place on 12th November 2008 celebrating success and achievement across the entire industry, from accountants in business, to practice and public sector.
A number of BASDA members celebrated success at the awards in the Software Supplier categories including CODA, Access, Mamut and Validis.

HMRC exclusive briefing for BASDA members re VAT changes announced in Pre-Budget Report
There is some debate in the industry with regards to the best approach to take – whether to edit the percentage of your current VAT code, or whether to create a new VAT code which will become the new default as at 1st December. The current industry consensus is that changing the percentage against the current VAT code is the easiest solution to deliver.

Mike Clasper appointed as New Chairman
Mike joined HMRC on the 1 August 2008 from Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd where he was Operational Managing Director. He was formally Chief Executive at the airport operator BAA PLC. BASDA are one of the few stakeholders on the Chairman's senior stakeholder group who meet regularly with the Chair and many of his senior team to work through challenges and opportunities for HMRC going forward.
